We've capped resale prices since 2018

Last month, the UK Government confirmed plans to cap ticket resale prices at face value. As an industry, we’ve know first-hand the frustrations fans have faced with inflated resale prices, and we fully support this move towards an approach that removes incentive for touts.

Fans deserve to have trust and confidence in the ticketing system, which is why we voluntarily implemented a resale cap more than seven years ago.

We have built a secure platform where fans can easily list tickets they can’t use, knowing buyers won’t pay more than face value and are protected throughout the transaction.

“It’s really encouraging to see more progress being made around fair resale and we back the Government in this move 100%. We believe capped resale will protect fans and help keep live events accessible, and it’s something we’re proud to support.” Sarah Slater – Managing Director at Ticketmaster UK.

Preventing tickets from reaching touts in the first place is an important part of limiting what ends up on unauthorised resale platforms. Every day we block around 200 million bot attempts globally, roughly 139,000 bot attacks every minute to our platforms. These systems are designed to buy tickets at speed and push them onto the inflated resale market.

We strongly support a UK-wide cap on resale prices. We know it’s achievable, and if applied industry-wide, it would cut touts’ incentives and vastly improve the fan experience.
