Summer 2023 has been a record-breaking season to remember for Ticketmaster. We’ve scanned more than 4 million fans into events across the UK and Ireland, marking a historic high. This monumental feat would not have been possible without our team, who tirelessly worked over 25,000 hours in Box Offices at more than 600 events.
Over 80% of all tickets scanned were SafeTix™ , Ticketmaster’s cutting-edge technology securely linking a fan’s digital ticket to their Ticketmaster account using an encrypted barcode that refreshes every few seconds. This security measure prevents resellers from profiting through screenshots or photocopies, guaranteeing that each ticket is valid for a single use. The other standout feature of SafeTix™ is the inclusion of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, offering fans a seamless “tap and go” experience when entering venues – as successfully demonstrated at festivals like Isle of Wight, Parklife, BBC Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend, and TRNSMT.

This summer season also marked another milestone with the introduction of last-minute resale, with Ticketmaster giving fans the opportunity to sell their tickets at the price they originally paid right up until the event starts.
Andrew Parsons, Ticketmaster UK MD, elaborated on the significance of this feature: “By giving fans the ability to sell their tickets right up until gates open, we’ve ensured that fields have been full this summer. Not only is this such a vital component for outdoor shows, but the uptake in these last-minute sales is testament to just how important flexibility and secure resale is to fans.”
