Jo Wyborn is Client Services Manager for Music in our Ticketmaster London office and worked in a venue for 8 years before joining Ticketmaster.

What was your first job in a venue?

Hammersmith Apollo, as Venue Administrator, Box Office Deputy & Box Office Manager.

What was your favourite part of the job?

I loved finding out who was the next big artist to play at the venue, but I also enjoyed dealing with lots of different departments within the venue; Venue Managers, Box Office, Front of House staff, Technical teams and more.

What was the most memorable event you’ve worked on?

There has been so many, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Michael Bublé, Chris Rea the list goes on.   I was very lucky as I got see a lot of big stars starting out before they went on to play the big arenas.

How does your venue experience help you in your current role?

It helps me understand what information the venues need to get events setup and the pressures they are under from other parts of the industry. Venues have the added pressure of making sure they have good customer experience as this is where the customer journey ends.

As the journey starts with TM and ends with the venues, together we make it as smooth and enjoyable for the customer as we can.

Why do you think venues are so important?

Venues is where everything comes alive, so it’s important to have live music in our lives, it lets us lose ourselves in the music and music is also a great stress relief.
